About us

Precision data for the continent's next chapter.

Drone East Africa exists to close the gap between what Africa is building and what it can actually measure — from the Rift Valley to the boardroom.

Our story

Built at the intersection of digital infrastructure and the land itself.

FounderRobert KaranjaFounder, Drone East Africa · Founder, DPI4Africa

Robert Karanja founded Drone East Africa at the intersection of two worlds he knows intimately: Africa's digital infrastructure and the physical landscape it must serve.

As Founder of DPI4Africa — the continent's leading digital public infrastructure firm — Robert has advised the governments of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zambia, managed $27M+ in DPI investment portfolios, and shaped regional digital strategies for EAC, ECOWAS, and COMESA.

He served on South Africa's G20 Digital Economy Working Group and curated the Global DPI Summit, convening 2,500+ leaders shaping Africa's digital future.

He founded Drone East Africa because he saw the gap: the precise spatial data that digital governments need — accurate land surveys, agricultural baselines, infrastructure maps — was too slow and too expensive to collect. Drone East Africa changes that.
